Apple is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to develop the next generation of Edge Services. You will be managing a team of developers designing new proxy services designed to connect customers to Apple Services faster than ever before. You will partner with OS and services teams to deeply integrate our devices with our services. Your team’s work will help improve the performance of Apple Services such as Apple Music, Apple TV, App Store, and many more.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of developers writing highly performant Edge proxy services.
Collaboratively set direction with cross-functional partners, including client operating system teams and Apple Service backend teams.
Create a unified Edge strategy for Apple Services.
Manage relationships with various open source communities.
Set priorities, review code and architecture, and manage production deployments.
Provide second tier operational support.
Review performance data and investigate any performance regressions.

Requirements

5+ years experience in a software engineering role.
Experience with designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable infrastructure services.
Hands-on experience building a proxy control plane for configuration management, traffic routing and observability.
Proven expertise in developing and debugging system-level services in high performance languages like C++/Swift.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including HTTP, QUIC, TLS, and TCP/IP.
Experience with concurrency, multithreading, distributed systems, or server architectures.
BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

Experience in software engineering management.
Familiarity with proxy systems such as Envoy.
Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code tools.
Proficiency in performance analysis, debugging, and observability tools.
A passion for solving complex problems at scale and driving technical innovation.
