About the position

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Abbott plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of software products, particularly in the diabetes management sector. This position involves working within an Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to create and implement automated testing frameworks for mobile applications, while also mentoring junior team members and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Complete software testing and activities in conjunction for user stories within the Agile SDLC process.
  • Create or consult on verification and validation test plans, test reports, trace matrices to incorporate the automated tests and review with relevant stakeholders.
  • Create an automation framework for mobile apps (iOS and Android).
  • Develop and improve robust test automation framework ensuring it works with the Quality Management system and provides quick feedback for Agile development.
  • Mentor and provide day to day guidance to junior members of the software test team.
  • Develop automated metric tools for management purposes.
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements to the Agile SDLC process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline.
  • 4 years' experience in Software Testing and/or Software Quality Assurance.
  • 2 years' experience working as Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET).
  • Must be technically strong and have experience testing mobile applications.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical Device experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an agile development environment preferred.
  • Experience with embedded systems and integration testing with external systems preferred.
  • Cyber security, medical mobile applications or cloud computing experience preferred.
