About the position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. We deliver grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distribution-scale power: solar and storage; asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial expertise to maximize the performance of generating projects, and onsite solutions, through the Company's PowerFlex affiliate, offering a full suite of onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers: solar, storage, EV charging, energy management systems, and microgrids. The Business Intelligence Analyst 2 will work on three primary tasks: creating financial and operational dashboards and other data visualization and automation tools to support core Asset Optimization (AO) functions, work with interdepartmental teams to provide long-term financial forecasts for generating renewable energy projects and create other ad-hoc analyses to support internal strategic initiatives and business decisions. Responsibilities will revolve around managing the retrieval and cleaning of data to create insights that will be used to drive business decisions and optimize performance. The position is based in the community of Carmel Mountain Ranch of San Diego, CA, and operates in a hybrid work mode.

Responsibilities

  • Independently build financial and business models and conduct in-depth analysis and presentation of findings to senior management.
  • Work with Development, Technical Services, and Asset Optimization business units to ensure that the financial and operational models incorporate the current and relevant information to allow for accurate and timely bidding on internal projects.
  • Apply creative problem-solving skills to pricing and analytical initiatives and focus on continuously improving all models accuracy and analyses.
  • Report on project actuals to budget performance, interpret the data to identify areas of concerns and potential improvement in business practices.
  • Maintain various pricing and analytical databases.
  • Develop and maintain data visualization in graphs or dashboard tools to monitor, track, and update Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Science, Engineering, or Accounting required.
  • Minimum 2+ years' financial analysis experience developing and analyzing models.
  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business analyst.
  • Previous experience in the energy industry is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to gather, organize, analyze, structure, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter that can work independently and report on issues and progress in clear and concise fashion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Business acumen and aptitude for financial statement preparation and analysis as it relates to profitability reporting and modeling of project performance.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Excel proficiency; financial spreadsheet creation experience.
  • Basic programming skills (VBA, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
