About the position

Embark on a new career journey to shape the future as a Lead Solder Repair Technician, where you will be part of a team crafting transformers & power supplies destined for military and industrial products. The Lead Solder Repair Technician performs mechanical assembly and disassembly of power supplies and other electro-mechanical devices. They are responsible for soldering and rework operations to modify, build, or repair electronic components and assemblies. Your expertise in soldering techniques and attention to detail will ensure the quality and reliability of our products, contributing to the success of our manufacturing operations. Responsibilities

  • Solder & remove components such as printed circuit cards, wires, coils, capacitors, semiconductors, resistors, transformers and various other components or to repair printed circuit boards and other devices
  • Assemble electronic components, subassemblies, and systems by any one or combination of following methods: work orders, production drawings and sample assemblies, and verbal instructions.
  • Maintain all position required certifications & control procedures (IPC7711/7721); electrostatic discharge control ANSI/ESD S20.20 and Mil-Std-1686; IAW J-STD-001 and IPC-A610 Class 3
  • Install previously wired subassemblies and solder cables to sections to connect them
  • Mask and clean unit to conformal coating standard according to detailed company specification PRA1001.
  • Determine, locate, maintain, and order parts required to perform repairs in a timely manner.
  • Utilize soldering irons, soldering stations, and related equipment to perform soldering and rework tasks on electronic components and circuit boards.
  • Follow work instructions, technical drawings, and specifications to identify and correct defects, such as solder bridges, cold solder joints, and component misalignment.
  • Remove and replace defective components, including through-hole and surface-mount devices, while maintaining the integrity of surrounding components and PCB traces.
  • Inspect solder joints and reworked areas to ensure compliance with IPC standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Use magnification tools, such as microscopes or magnifying lamps, to perform detailed visual inspections of solder connections and component placement.
  • Document repair activities, including before-and-after photographs, soldering parameters, and test results, to maintain accurate records and traceability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement corrective actions and process improvements to prevent recurrence of soldering-related issues.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, including soldering stations, tools, and materials, to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Work with engineering and other departments to improve products and ensure quality and compliance.
  • Complete all paperwork, ensuring the documentation is routed to its' proper destination.
  • Identify and report any issues or concerns related to product quality, packaging, or documentation.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to supervisors
  • Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance, punctuality, and workplace conduct
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to support a positive work environment and achieve production goals
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents or exposure to hazardous materials
  • Perform tasks according to standard procedures under the supervision of experienced teammates and receive training and guidance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to work full time
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel crawl, talk or hear, and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be US citizen with ability to secure a US Government security clearance; Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to export controlled data.
