About The Position

The Solution Architect at AbbVie is responsible for designing, building, and delivering solutions that meet business requirements, with a strong emphasis on Salesforce and emerging technologies. This role involves collaboration with business stakeholders, mentoring senior engineers, and ensuring the scalability and security of applications. The architect will also contribute to the long-term roadmap of the platform and drive standardization in coding practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of experience, Master's Degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD with 2 years of experience in IT.
  • Strong understanding of the Salesforce platform features, including integration patterns, data model and best practices.
  • Experience with Salesforce customization and optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of application architecture for GxP applications, Cloud native solutions (IaaS / PaaS), Integrations (using APIs).
  • Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of application program/system design and implementation.
  • Research and maintain knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business.
  • Handle complex issues and problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, analytical ability, judgment, and ability to work effectively at all levels with both internal and external organizations.
  • Experienced in DevOps methodologies.
  • Possession of architect-level certifications is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient applications on Salesforce.
  • Hands-on architect comfortable working with engineers at code/detailed design level.
  • Guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles, best practices in API-based, and Cloud environments.
  • Perform architecture assessments to identify areas for improvement and potential bottlenecks.
  • Develop Salesforce architectural standards for business applications.
  • Contribute to the long-term roadmap for the platform, ensuring it can evolve and adapt to future requirements.
  • Create architecture and design recommendations while leading working sessions with multiple stakeholders who may have conflicting requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with business users, leaders, BRMs and Portfolio Managers to define strategies that maximize business value.
  • Partner with the enterprise architecture team to ensure architecture alignment.
  • Drive standardization, maintenance, and use of coding libraries such as UI frameworks, integration patterns to be used in conjunction with Salesforce.
  • Evaluate 'Fit for purpose' to drive Build vs. Buy decisions suitability to custom application development for new business demand and/or platform affinity.
  • Review and evaluate feasibility of application development proposals to ensure adherence to AbbVie standards.
  • Propose application optimization for externally developed applications.
  • Evaluate emerging application development standards, technologies, and practices to integrate into internal development standards and practices.
  • Act as escalation points for intractable engineering problems encountered by application development teams.
