About the position

KNIME is growing rapidly and we're seeking smart, motivated, and creative people up for the challenge of helping us achieve ambitious scaling goals while continuing to empower the active community. Right now, we are looking for a Solution Engineer - Life Sciences (m/f/d) to join our Life Sciences team at KNIME in Austin, TX or Remote US. As a Solution Engineer in the Life Sciences team at KNIME, you will be the technical go-to person for our customers, helping them make the most out of our software. Internally, you work closely with our other solution engineers around the world to come up with new ideas, solutions, and demos that help us show the customer the value in our software. Your job will be to articulate the KNIME value proposition in conversations with prospects and existing customers, as well as building solutions together with or for them. In addition to preparing solutions, part of the job is to marshal resources internally to help build proof of concepts, present the results to a technical or non-technical audience. At KNIME we believe in working as a team and helping whenever this is needed. So in addition to those day-to-day tasks, you might be asked to help train new customers, prepare use cases for our marketing team, or write blog posts about your most recent lessons learned.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical go-to person for customers, helping them maximize the use of KNIME software.
  • Collaborate with other solution engineers globally to develop new ideas, solutions, and demos.
  • Articulate the KNIME value proposition in discussions with prospects and existing customers.
  • Build solutions collaboratively with customers or for them.
  • Marshal internal resources to create proof of concepts and present results to various audiences.
  • Train new customers and prepare use cases for the marketing team.
  • Write blog posts about lessons learned and experiences.

Requirements

  • Background in life sciences, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields.
  • Experience with data science and understanding of challenges in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare.
  • Familiarity with tools like RDKit, Python, machine learning modules, generative AI, cloud infrastructures, and data warehouses.
  • Experience working with various data types used in the life sciences industry.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to work with diverse customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to KNIME, workflows, or other low code tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and guide people remotely.
  • A sense of humor and humility.
