About the position

We are seeking a talented sommelier to join our team of seasoned professionals for our flagship restaurant, L'Amico, located within the Hotel Eventi on 6th Avenue and 30th St. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about wine and have a strong background in beverage service. As a sommelier at L'Amico, you will be responsible for curating and presenting an exceptional wine list that features premiere selections from all over the world, with a special emphasis on Northern Italy. Your role will involve engaging with guests to enhance their dining experience through expert wine pairings and recommendations. In addition to your expertise in wine, you will be expected to have a solid understanding of cocktails and other beverages. This position requires a proactive approach to selling amazing bottles, which means you will spend a significant amount of time on the floor interacting with guests. You will also be responsible for conducting monthly inventory and assisting with binning, ensuring that our wine cellar is well-organized and stocked with the finest selections. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Strong background in wine, beverage, and cocktails.
  • Experience in a similar role within a fine dining restaurant.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification from a recognized wine education program (e.g., WSET, CMS).
  • Previous experience in a flagship restaurant or high-end dining establishment.
