About the position

The Geomatics Regional Manager will oversee the geospatial and surveying projects in the Albuquerque, New Mexico office, focusing on transportation-related surveys. This role involves project management, client relations, staff training, and ensuring quality control of deliverables. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team environment and contribute to business development efforts while managing a diverse range of survey projects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Southwest Geomatics Regional Manager and collaborate on various survey projects.
  • Demonstrate leadership and maintain open communication between field, office, and clients.
  • Manage multi-discipline projects and client relations.
  • Conduct project scoping and kick-off meetings as needed.
  • Assist with the review of digital models and mapping of LiDAR and traditional survey projects.
  • Perform quality control reviews of deliverables.
  • Report on the status of vehicles, survey, and safety equipment.
  • Assist with Mobile LiDAR processing and training using Riegl software.
  • Prepare Mobile LiDAR panel/control plans and strategic business plans.
  • Prepare yearly operating budgets and subconsultant agreements.
  • Assist in selecting survey firms to establish project control and topographic surveys.
  • Engage in business development to pursue strategic opportunities and identify new markets.
  • Prepare scope and fee documents for survey projects.
  • Conduct meetings and phone calls with key personnel and officials.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules and provide professional survey assistance.
  • Prepare survey reports and collaborate with other professionals on assigned tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with WSP and client-specific safety guidelines.
  • Remain current in the latest survey knowledge, techniques, and practices.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Build and manage the Geomatics team within the Southwest Region.
  • Invoice and bill clients for work performed.
  • Oversee operations of the Geospatial Group in New Mexico.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, GIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 12+ years of surveying experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Working knowledge of surveying mathematics and land surveying practices.
  • Staffing management experience.
  • Experience in preparing work plans, maintaining schedules and budgets, and managing resources.
  • Proven leadership, team building, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Bentley software and Riegl software.
  • Excellent communication skills and overall knowledge of conducting field operations.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Experience with TopoDot and TerraSolid software.
  • Experience with Leica Infinity software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
