About The Position

The Activities Director at Squirrel Hill Wellness and Rehab Center is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, directing, and implementing the overall operation of the Activity Department. This role ensures that a comprehensive program of activities is designed to meet the interests and well-being of each resident, in compliance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within five years preceding the date of hire, with one year being full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.
• Licensed as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant under Chapter 4755 of the Revised Code.
• Certified by a nationally recognized accrediting body as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional.
• Completed training covering activities programming from a technical or vocational school, college, university, or other educational institution, with one year of experience in recreational or activities services.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in a related field preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the activity programs of the facility.
• Assist in the development, administration, and coordination of department policies and procedures.
• Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of resident assessments.
• Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms and reports, and submitting them to the administrator as required.
• Direct, manage, and supervise Activity Aides and/or other department personnel.
• Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability to other responsible department personnel.
• Develop a written plan of care for each resident that identifies their problems/needs and the goals to be accomplished.
• Prepare a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted prominently for visitors and in resident rooms.
