About The Position

Requirements

• Current Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License
• Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement
• Valid Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate or completion of Arizona Department of Public Safety Student Transportation certification training
• Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint card
• High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
• 1 year of school bus driving experience (Preferred)

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is preferred

Responsibilities

• Safely drives a school bus on designated routes according to time schedules.
• Transports students, teachers, and others on school field or activity trips.
• Inspects the assigned bus daily to ensure it is in good, clean, and safe working order.
• Cleans and refuels the bus as needed.
• Ensures communication devices are operational before each trip.
• Reports mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents promptly.
• Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of the bus.
• Maintains order and discipline among students in accordance with ALA policies.
• Observes and tracks route timing for efficiency.
• Follows procedures to ensure no child is left alone on the bus without supervision.
• Inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and reports needs to the Director.
• Evacuates children in case of accidents/emergencies according to procedures.
• Attends and participates in trainings and professional development opportunities.
