About The Position

The Advanced EMT position involves providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced and basic life support care and transportation for the sick and injured, adhering to local, state, national, and Acadian Ambulance standards. The role requires a high level of medical knowledge and the ability to operate emergency equipment while ensuring patient safety during transport.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National and/or State certification as an Advanced EMT.
• Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
• Valid state-issued driver's license appropriate for the role.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of company protocols and operational procedures.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in various conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in emergency medical services or related fields.
• Advanced training in emergency medical care techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
• Administer prompt and efficient basic and advanced life support care within the limits of licensure or certification.
• Handle patients safely during transport to medical facilities.
• Ensure safe and efficient transport of patients in the ambulance.
• Transfer patient care information to receiving personnel.
• Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Obtain and record non-medical patient information as required.
• Conduct regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment is present and in working order.
• Report needed repairs to maintenance departments and supervisors.
• Drive the ambulance safely and efficiently, following company guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings and complete assigned station duties.
• Order supplies and equipment to replenish inventories as needed.
• Precept new employees and EMT students if approved as a preceptor.
