About The Position

The Inventory Specialist at Walgreens is responsible for executing and monitoring inventory best practices and standard operating procedures across the store, including both front end and pharmacy operations. This role supports pharmacy inventory management activities, ensures on-shelf availability, and oversees all in-store inventory processes. The specialist engages with customers to enhance their experience and leads the team in inventory management processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy in inventory counts.

Requirements

  • Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens or one year of prior retail work experience.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi-task and manage execution.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending strategies to resolve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and monitor inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the store.
  • Support pharmacy inventory management activities including receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
  • Champion on-shelf availability and manage all in-store inventory processes.
  • Validate and ensure accuracy of planograms.
  • Review and coordinate the proper use of reports and system applications affecting inventory accuracy.
  • Execute and maintain asset protection techniques and file claims for inventory discrepancies.
  • Open and close the store in the absence of management, handling cash and ensuring readiness for business.
  • Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and ensure a positive customer experience when serving as the leader on duty.
  • Coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes.
  • Scan deliveries while vendors are present and manage One Box receiving.
  • Verify pharmacy shipments and complete postings of pharmacy orders.
  • Complete On-Shelf Availability (OSA) processes and manage vendor returns before expiration.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Assist in preparing for physical inventory and support inventory day activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves.
