About The Position

The Machine Operator position at STERIS involves fabricating quality parts for surgical equipment and related items. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of sheet metal fabrication machine operator experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
• Strong math skills and the ability to apply them effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
• Willingness to work overtime if required.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kanban Inventory, and Waste elimination.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate fabrication equipment including CNC punch press, CNC Laser, CNC press brakes, and manual shear.
• Program CNC press brakes and adjust parameters within CNC controls on punch press and laser.
• Perform basic daily maintenance on fabrication equipment.
• Read and interpret fabrication blueprints, GD&T, shop orders, and other working documents.
• Use computers to claim shop orders and retrieve CNC programs and engineering blueprints.
• Measure production parts using calipers, micrometers, CMM, steel rules, protractors, and tape measures.
• Inspect parts for quality and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Follow 5S methodology to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Assist in training other employees in the fabrication department.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective equipment.
• Complete projects and assignments as directed by management.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
