About The Position

The Safety Associate Apprentice plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and support at Mohawk Valley Health Systems (MVHS). This position serves as one of the first points of contact for patients, visitors, and employees, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment. The apprentice will be responsible for greeting and screening individuals entering the facility, offering concierge services, and assisting with various tasks under the guidance of the Safety Associate Coordinator and department director.

Requirements

• High School Student or GED with a focus on health sciences studies.
• Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit a highly professional, positive, and service-oriented manner with patients, visitors, and employees.
• Greet, screen, and provide concierge services to patients, visitors, and employees, including escorting or transporting them by wheelchair.
• Communicate effectively about MVHS facilities, department locations, services, and policies, both verbally and in writing.
• Use sound judgment to independently make decisions and resolve difficult and sensitive issues and complaints.
• Initiate and participate in policy and process improvements based on observations and experiences.
• Proficiently use Epic EMR, Microsoft Office, and other electronic communication devices to obtain, record, organize, and communicate information quickly and accurately.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork with employees to provide exceptional customer service.
• Be flexible regarding location and duration of shift assignments and maintain punctuality for all assigned shifts.
• Comply with all MVHS safety and risk management policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related tasks as delegated by the Safety Associate Coordinator and/or department director.
