As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., you will play a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations. Your daily interactions with donors will be both motivating and impactful, as the high-quality plasma you collect will contribute to life-changing medicines. A strong commitment to customer service and quality is essential in this role. You will report directly to the Plasma Center Manager and will work under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. Your responsibilities will include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. Familiarity with the regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment is necessary, as you will follow guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and provide support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) protocols. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting medical history interviews, managing informed consent, and ensuring compliance with AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion protocols. You will evaluate donor reactions and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies, including the development of standing orders from the Center Physician and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities. Additionally, you will support vaccination programs for Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu for employees, manage employee incidents, and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency services. You may also serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program that meets state requirements. You must be currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned, such as EMT-Paramedic, and hold current CPR and AED certifications. Completing the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist is also necessary, along with having at least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
