About the position
Meeting Street Schools - Jasper & Beaufort (MSJB) is a pioneering tuition-free public charter school dedicated to providing high-quality education to students in Jasper, Beaufort, and Hampton Counties in South Carolina. Our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential and prepare them for a successful future, focusing on a holistic approach to learning that emphasizes the whole child. We are currently serving students in grades K-2 and will be expanding our grade levels each year. We are seeking a self-driven, creative, and adaptable educator to develop and pioneer a Spanish language instruction pilot program from the ground up. The ideal candidate will design and implement a comprehensive Spanish program for K-2 students, selecting appropriate instructional materials, creating engaging lesson plans, and establishing clear learning objectives to promote language acquisition and cultural appreciation. This role requires a commitment to outstanding academic achievement and student character development, building a strong classroom community, and fostering relationships with families. The educator will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of subject matter content, support students through direct and small group instruction, and assess student learning consistently to adjust instruction to meet individual needs. A commitment to professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration is essential, as is the ability to model Meeting Street Schools' Path to Success skills and support the development of these skills in students and peers. Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive Spanish program for K-2 students.
- Select appropriate instructional materials for the Spanish program.
- Create engaging lesson plans that promote language acquisition and cultural appreciation.
- Establish clear learning objectives for students.
- Support outstanding academic achievement and student character development.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, certification preferred.
- Prior experience teaching in under-resourced communities preferred.
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
- High level of personal organization and planning.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to inspire, motivate and engage children.
- Proven leadership skills.
