About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Moderate/Severe disabilities will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with moderate to severe disabilities. This role requires a deep understanding of special education practices and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will work closely with students to develop their academic, social, and emotional skills, ensuring that they have access to a meaningful education that promotes their growth and independence. In this position, the teacher will collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. The teacher will also assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. A strong emphasis will be placed on fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Additionally, the Special Education Teacher will participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance their instructional skills. This role may also involve providing training and support to paraprofessionals and other staff members working with students with disabilities. The teacher will be expected to maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's development and needs.
