About the position

The Special Education Middle School Teacher for Autism/Multiple Disabilities at Franklin Middle School is responsible for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique requirements of each student. The teacher will work closely with students who have autism and multiple disabilities, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially. In this position, the teacher will collaborate with other educators, specialists, and parents to create a cohesive educational experience. This includes adapting curriculum materials, utilizing assistive technology, and employing various teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with families regarding their child's development and achievements. Additionally, the teacher will participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and contribute to a positive school culture that promotes diversity and inclusion. Requirements

  • Valid Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) certification.
  • Valid Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSWD) certification.
  • Elementary K-6 certification.
  • Experience working with students with autism and multiple disabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
