About the position

The Special Education Resource Teacher at Norup International School is responsible for delivering tailored instruction to K-8th grade students in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This role requires a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. The teacher will engage in planning and preparation of coherent units of study, lessons, and activities that align with clear learning objectives. They will also develop appropriate assessments to monitor and evaluate each student's progress, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the teacher will coordinate, schedule, and facilitate IEP meetings and related paperwork, ensuring compliance with educational regulations and the needs of students. The classroom environment is crucial; the teacher must organize the space effectively and manage classroom procedures to create a safe and respectful atmosphere conducive to learning. This includes providing clear behavioral directions and using a variety of strategies to maintain an engaging and positive culture for learning. Instructionally, the teacher will differentiate and modify lessons to meet the specific needs of each student, employing a mix of teaching methods including lectures, group work, and technology integration. They will communicate positively and clearly with students, providing timely feedback to support their learning journey. Professional responsibilities include reflecting on teaching practices, participating in professional development opportunities, and maintaining open communication with families regarding student progress. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required with Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience working with students at the K-8 level preferred.
