About the position

The Special Education Teacher for the Cross Categorical Program at Champaign Unit 4 School District is a part-time position (0.5 FTE) that focuses on providing specialized educational support to students with diverse learning needs. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique requirements, ensuring that they receive the necessary accommodations and modifications to succeed in their educational journey. This role requires a commitment to educational justice, equity, and excellence, aligning with the district's mission to positively transform learning and life outcomes for students. In this position, the teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to create a supportive learning environment. They will assess students' progress, adapt instructional strategies, and utilize various teaching methods to engage students effectively. The teacher will also participate in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and stay updated on best practices in special education. The ideal candidate will possess an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education Endorsement and demonstrate a passion for working with students with disabilities. The position is located at South Side Elementary and is set to begin in August 2024. The teacher will have the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant educational community that serves over 10,000 students across multiple facilities in the Champaign area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.

Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education Endorsement.
