About the position

The Special Education Teacher for the Cross Categorical Program at Edison Middle School is responsible for providing high-quality educational services to students with diverse learning needs. This position requires a commitment to educational justice, equity, and excellence, aligning with the mission of Champaign Unit 4 School District to positively transform learning and life outcomes for students. The teacher will develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff is essential to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and achievement. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the Special Education Teacher will assess student progress, adapt teaching methods, and utilize various instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The teacher will also participate in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and stay current with best practices in special education. The role includes maintaining accurate records of student performance and communicating effectively with stakeholders regarding student progress and needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of special education laws and regulations, as well as a passion for advocating for students with disabilities. Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education Endorsement.
