The Cupertino Union School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher, specifically for the role of Elementary Resource Specialist. This position is part of our 2024-25 Eligibility Pool, where we anticipate vacancies for both Resource Specialist and Special Day Class Teacher roles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering a world-class education to students with special needs, ensuring that they receive the support and resources necessary to succeed academically and socially. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. The district maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio, with a cap of 22 students in resource programs, ensuring that each student receives the attention they deserve. Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized instruction to students with special needs in accordance with their IEPs.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement effective educational strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary.
  • Provide support and guidance to instructional assistants working within the resource program.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress for reporting purposes.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.

Requirements

  • Mild Moderate special education credential or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree verified by a copy of transcripts.
  • Recent letters of recommendation from a supervisor and/or master teacher (3 signed letters).
  • Cover letter and resume submitted through Ed-join application.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Advanced degrees (Masters/Doctorate) in education or related fields.
  • National Board Certification.
