About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Functional Life Skills (FLS) at Champaign Unit 4 School District is a full-time position dedicated to positively transforming learning and life outcomes for students with special needs. The teacher will work primarily at Kenwood Elementary, focusing on providing tailored educational experiences that promote equity and excellence in learning. This role requires a commitment to educational justice, ensuring that all students, regardless of their challenges, have access to quality education and the support they need to thrive. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student. This includes adapting curriculum materials, utilizing various teaching strategies, and employing assistive technologies to enhance learning. Collaboration with parents, other educators, and support staff is essential to create a supportive learning environment. The teacher will also engage in ongoing assessment and evaluation of student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional methods to ensure that each student achieves their educational goals. In addition to classroom responsibilities, the Special Education Teacher will participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education. Requirements
