About The Position

The STAR Classroom Teacher will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide educational programming to students with autism spectrum disorder as well as moderate to severe mental impairment. The role involves working with students who may also have physical and/or significant health impairments. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of IEP goals, data collection, behavior management (including physical restraint), positioning, feeding, lifting/transferring, and equipment maintenance. Effective communication with families and other team members is essential, and the use of assistive technology and computers is required.

Requirements

• Illinois Professional Educator's License: LBS 1 Endorsement
• Experience or training in techniques such as ABA, verbal behavior, TEACCH, and similar methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide educational programming to students with autism spectrum disorder and moderate to severe mental impairment.
• Develop and implement IEP goals for students.
• Collect data on student progress and behavior.
• Manage student behavior, including the use of physical restraint when necessary.
• Assist with positioning, feeding, lifting, and transferring of students.
• Maintain equipment used in the classroom.
• Communicate effectively with families and team members.
• Utilize assistive technology and computers in the classroom.
