The Special Education Teacher at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health will be an integral part of the Avon Grove Charter Early Learning Center, focusing on providing specialized instruction to students with special needs in Grades 4 to 6. This role is designed for educators who are passionate about fostering a supportive learning environment and are committed to the holistic development of each child. Under the guidance of the Vice President of Educational Services, the teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. This includes evaluating and assessing student progress relative to instructional objectives, providing guidance and support to general education teachers, and coordinating the delivery of special education services as outlined in each student's IEP. The position is situated within a small, community-oriented school environment that emphasizes collaboration and support among staff. The teacher will have access to resources from Devereux's Center for Effective Schools (CES), a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of children with learning needs through training, consultation, and applied research. The CES has a long-standing commitment to addressing the needs of children with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) and their families, promoting effective practices informed by scientific evidence. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Special Education Teacher will have opportunities for professional growth and development, including specialized training in Positive Behavior Intervention Supports, Aimsweb Progress Monitoring, Safe & Positive Approaches, and IEP Writing. The role also offers avenues for participation in school committees and collaborative work with various disciplines, enhancing the educational experience for both staff and students.
