About the position

ATX Learning is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers/Resource Specialists for our educational sites in Morgan Hill, California. This full-time position involves working with students across various age groups, focusing on those with mild to moderate disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a current teaching license and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. The role requires the development of engaging lesson plans aimed at enhancing student learning and promoting independent skills. Teachers will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized educational plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring adherence to the prescribed curriculum while also adapting lessons to make them more meaningful and accessible. Participation in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) is a critical component of this role, along with timely completion of all required documentation. The position is structured as a full-time role, requiring a commitment of five days a week. The caseload will primarily consist of students with mild to moderate disabilities, and the start date is immediate, continuing until the end of the school year with the possibility of renewal. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that enhance student learning and promote independent skills.
  • Create and execute individualized educational plans tailored to meet the needs of each student.
  • Follow the prescribed curriculum while adapting lessons to ensure they are meaningful for students.
  • Participate in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Complete all assigned documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Current teaching certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree preferred.
  • One year of teaching experience in a public or charter school setting preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students with autism and life skills needs.
  • Familiarity with special education laws and regulations.
