About the position

The Special Education Teacher positions for the 2024-2025 school year are now open for applications across multiple sites, including Fairgrove Elementary School, Nipomo Elementary School, Ocean View Elementary School, Shell Beach Elementary School, Mesa Middle School, and Arroyo Grande High School. These roles are critical in providing specialized instruction and support to students with varying disabilities, ensuring they receive a quality education tailored to their individual needs. The selected candidates will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers, and engaging with parents and guardians to foster a supportive learning environment. The positions require a valid California teaching credential with specific authorizations to teach special education in various settings, including mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities. Teachers will work 184 days per year, with a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 1.0, and will be compensated based on their experience and educational qualifications. The salary range for these positions starts from $59,357 to $98,797 annually, depending on the teacher's experience and additional qualifications. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Special Education Teachers will be expected to participate in ongoing professional development, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and maintain accurate records of student progress. The role is vital in promoting an inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid California teaching credential with authorization to teach special education in a mild/moderate, moderate/severe, or early childhood setting.
  • Valid CLAD/BCLAD/EL Authorization (Emergency permits are not accepted).
  • Valid Added Autism Authorization.
