About the position

The Customer Service Specialist (CSS) plays a crucial role in providing exceptional service to customers and clients by managing order placement and monitoring. This position involves close collaboration with Business Development Assistants and Managers to ensure efficient order processing and adherence to supply chain goals. The CSS is responsible for validating and executing Grocery Products (GP) orders, handling distress sale orders, and conducting order audits, all while maintaining effective communication with clients and addressing any potential issues that arise.

Responsibilities

  • Processes orders, verifies details, and provides customer service.
  • Oversees a variety of customers and escalates questions to the Supervisor as necessary.
  • Groups orders for cost savings and pricing qualification.
  • Requests appointments for loads as needed and groups customer pickup loads.
  • Addresses potential order issues and tracks order details.
  • Communicates timely and thoroughly with clients and customers.
  • Works within the supply chain to mitigate inventory issues.
  • Participates in Hormel/Customer calls, providing feedback and insight.
  • Communicates critical issues or opportunities to management.
  • Provides training and backup for co-workers during absences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of experience in Customer Service in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy under frequent interruptions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
