About the position

The Specialist, Data Center Operations is responsible for operating and maintaining all aspects of mechanical, electrical, and building infrastructure in a mission-critical data center. The role focuses on ensuring 100% uptime of the data center by monitoring and operating equipment, performing installation and maintenance tasks, and overseeing vendor activities. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to self-perform repairs and maintenance on various building systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and building infrastructure in the data center.
• Monitor and operate equipment to ensure 100% uptime.
• Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
• Conduct routine assessments of building systems operations and performance.
• Oversee vendors and contractors during preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Comply with critical environment management programs and protocols to maintain uptime reliability.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent, technical training or degree.
• 5+ years of related work experience in a technical, electrical, or mechanical field.
• Ability to understand and interpret design and construction documents.
• Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and self-perform repairs on building infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working on energized equipment (hot work).
• Technical knowledge of mission-critical systems, including HVAC and emergency power.
• Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms.
