The Specialty Crime Underwriter is responsible for proactively seeking new account opportunities, understanding organizational appetite, assessing account potential, and analyzing risk for new and renewal business. This role involves developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships, complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules. The underwriter will work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments. This role will be filled at either the Level I or Level II. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek new account opportunities.
• Understand organizational appetite, assess account potential, analyze risk for new and renewal business.
• Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships.
• Comply with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area for Level I.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area for Level I.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment for Level I.
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines for Level I.
• Experience with Microsoft Office for Level I.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area for Level II.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area for Level II.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area for Level II.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area for Level II.
• Knowledge of Fidelity and Crime lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines for Level II.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business for Level II.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional Certifications such as CPCU, AU, CIC are a plus
• Technical knowledge of Fidelity and Crime coverage and underwriting
• Experience working with Governmental entities and Labor Unions
