The Speech Language Pathologist will be primarily responsible for direct patient care, planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individuals according to the principles and practices of speech therapy in the Post Acute Medical System. This role involves treating patients across a wide age range, from pediatric to geriatric, ensuring that each treatment plan is tailored to the individual needs of the patient. The Speech Language Pathologist will also play a crucial role in the further development of the services offered by the facility, demonstrating flexibility to meet the needs of the company across various facilities. This position is non-exempt and requires a commitment to high-quality patient care and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. In addition to direct patient care, the Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for demonstrating competency in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. This includes routine meetings with patients and their families to assess and accommodate their needs, implementing functional training programs based on the patient's abilities, and ensuring the proper use of equipment. The role also involves preparing written or oral instructions for patients and caregivers, recommending home modifications, and maintaining accurate records for documentation purposes. The Speech Language Pathologist will be expected to meet daily productivity standards and participate in patient care conferences and staff meetings, contributing to the overall functioning of the rehabilitation team. The position requires ongoing education and participation in specialized training for program development, as well as adherence to Medicare rules and regulations when applicable. The Speech Language Pathologist will also assist with the maintenance of hospital or clinic equipment and report any needs for repairs or replacements. Overall, this role is integral to providing compassionate, expert care and supporting recovery through education and research.
