Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team, including Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians, advanced practice providers, Rehab nurses, OTs, PTs, and case management.
- Participate in formal, in-person team conference meetings several times per week to discuss each patient's plan of care and progress.
- Provide adult patients admitted to the ARU with a full range of diagnostic and treatment modalities in the SLP's scope of practice.
- Conduct Clinical Swallow Evaluations (CSE), Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS), and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing (FEES).
- Perform formal speech-language and cognitive assessments, speaking valve assessments, and post-op care for total laryngectomy patients.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Minimum 1-year post-graduation experience in Inpatient Rehab or Acute Care.
- Independent in performing MBSS.
- Independent in performing FEES preferred.
- Independent with speaking valve assessment and treatment for trach patients weaned from vent.
