About the position

The Sports Anchor/Multimedia Journalist at KIMA in Yakima, WA, is responsible for leading sports reporting and producing both long-form and daily sports content. This role requires a commitment to covering hard news in sports and involves gathering information, writing, editing, and producing sports stories for various platforms.

Responsibilities

• Gather sports information and report, write and edit content for all platforms.
• Assign other sports journalists and organize their work for proper and efficient function of the Sports Department.
• Cover area sports events.
• Travel to sporting events as required.
• Produce sports stories and special programs both live and pre-recorded for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Report and write sports stories.
• Edit video images.

Requirements

• Education: 4 Year College Degree, preferably in Journalism.
• Prior work experience: 2 years previous television sports anchoring/reporting experience.
• Skills in newsroom computer systems and office computer systems.
• Technical knowledge of ENG cameras and recorders, video image editing systems, and digital CMS platforms.
• Organized and detail-oriented.

• Command of the English language and grammar.
• Strong knowledge of all sports and their relevance to life in northeast Wisconsin.
• Ability to manage and lead the Sports Department.
