About the position

As a Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer for Seat Structures at Lear Corporation, you will play a crucial role in developing manufacturing processes and related equipment for new seating structures. Your responsibilities will encompass automation, welding, assembly, and riveting processes. You will be involved in cost estimation for new and modified business quoting, launching new equipment for products, and planning automation and industrialization. Additionally, you will develop and maintain budgets and timelines, prepare RFQs (requests for quotation), evaluate responses, and provide recommendations. Collaboration with Quality and Plant engineers to develop PFMEA, work instructions, and control plans will also be part of your role. You are expected to conceptualize and define processes while managing integrators, and you should be willing and able to travel as development and launch schedules dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes and related equipment for new seating structures.
  • Cost estimation for new and modified business quoting.
  • Launch new equipment for products.
  • Plan automation and industrialization.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and timelines.
  • Prepare RFQs (requests for quotation), evaluate responses, and provide recommendations.
  • Work with Quality and Plant engineers to develop PFMEA, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Conceptualize and define processes while managing integrators.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as development and launch schedules dictate.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in a related field (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Development of assembly processes for metal structure products.
  • Ability to work with 3D CAD (not necessarily proficient in creation, but able to utilize and navigate with viewing software).
  • Basic AutoCAD abilities for reviewing plant and equipment layouts.
  • Project management skills.
  • Engineering/process change control experience.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ability to read prints is a must.
  • Experience with Control Plans, PFMEA's, Inspection Sheets, and floor documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use broad depth of knowledge and expertise with a wide degree of creativity and latitude under minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in MIG/MAG Welding, RSW Welding, Riveting, Robotics, or High-Speed Automation.
  • Experience in seating structures or mechanisms.
  • Experience in manufacturing control systems.
  • GD&T proficiency, basic metrology, and parts inspection.
  • APQP experience.
  • Experience with Control Plans, PFMEA's, Inspection Sheets, and floor documentation.
