About the position

As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you will play a pivotal role in the SDA GMI program, contributing to the development and deployment of cutting-edge ground operational systems. This position requires a collaborative mindset, as you will be part of a cross-functional team dedicated to ensuring the success of our nation's security initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of systems engineering tasks, including requirements analysis, system design, and integration testing, all aimed at delivering high-quality solutions that meet stringent governmental security specifications. In this role, you will be expected to perform detailed technical analyses for subsystems and system elements, ensuring that all designs align with customer requirements and industry standards. You will also engage in technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability assessments, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the systems you help develop. Your ability to communicate effectively and negotiate with stakeholders will be crucial as you navigate the complexities of system design and implementation. Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements analysis, requirements definition, and requirements management.
  • Conduct functional analysis, performance analysis, and system design.
  • Execute detail trade studies, systems integration, and test (verification) activities.
  • Perform customer requirements analysis and develop system requirements.
  • Conduct technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability assessments.
  • Develop and evaluate systems, networks, and information systems to meet security specifications.
  • Provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support.
  • Participate in Modeling and Simulation activities.
  • Research and analyze data to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Support the generation of technical engineering products using appropriate standards and processes.
  • Provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees as needed.
  • Independently determine proposed approaches to solutions and contribute to major programs and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
