About the position

The Sr. App Developer Programmer/Analyst at McLane is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise with analytical skills to deliver high-quality application development solutions. This hybrid remote position requires the candidate to work from the office three days a week, making it essential for applicants to reside within a 50-minute radius of Temple, TX. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze, estimate, design, develop, and document various projects and solutions across multiple business areas, ensuring that all development requests align with business requirements and are completed within the allocated time and budget. In this position, the developer will be expected to create comprehensive documentation, provide detailed status updates, and log accurate information into the time-tracking system. The role also involves supporting all applications, continuously learning new tools and environments, and ensuring adherence to McLane's methodology. The developer will be responsible for ensuring that requirements and development deliverables match design specifications, that test plans align with requirements, and that test results are consistent with those plans. Additionally, the developer will provide high-level and detailed estimates, create developer specifications, and manage the system-testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) processes. The Sr. App Developer Programmer/Analyst will also be involved in the implementation and post-implementation activities, ensuring that the solutions developed meet McLane's standards and provide the necessary documentation for installations. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and performance of the applications supported by McLane, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, estimate, design, develop, and document multiple projects/solutions across several business areas.
  • Create documentation when appropriate.
  • Provide detailed status updates when needed.
  • Log accurate information into the time-tracking system.
  • Support all applications.
  • Continuously learn new tools, environments, and acquire new skills to maintain and enhance job performance.
  • Ensure McLane Methodology is followed.
  • Ensure requirements and development deliverables match the design specifications.
  • Ensure that the test plans match the requirements.
  • Ensure that the test results match the test plans.
  • Provide high-level and detailed estimates.
  • Provide high-level and detailed developer specifications.
  • Create an appropriate test environment for the project team to work with and validate the delivered solutions.
  • Develop and test solutions using the McLane development tools in the development environment that meet McLane standards.
  • Provide the appropriate implementation documentation for installs.
  • Manage and execute the system-testing process and UAT process.
  • Support the implementation and post-implementation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, related experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience in information technology, preferably within a mainframe development environment.
  • Technical skills in IBM Mainframe, MVS/TSO COBOL DB2/Stored Procedures, CICS, JCL, VSAM, Pac Base.
  • Experience with tools such as SCLM, SPUFI, PL/SQL developer, MS project, File-AID, Sort/ICETOOL.
  • Technical skills in UNIX/LINUX, ORACLE Application/Database, ORACLE PL/SQL, Java Applets/JSP's.
  • Subset skills in Gentran, ASP, MQ, UDB, Printing-Forms Path, Handheld, C/C++.
  • Subset skills in People Soft HR/Payroll/Benefits - People Code, Workflow, Forms, Reports - Java Portal/Applets/JSP's.
  • Subset skills in Oracle E-Business Suite - Financials, WMS, Purchasing, Forms, Reports.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day client interactions on development and support while building a knowledge base of each client's business, organization, and objectives.
  • Ability to create design specifications on requested changes and verify accuracy of returned results.
  • Ability to code, test, and document expected results from limited requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and with other team members.
