About the position
This position is for a Principal Applications Engineer in the Mobile Solutions Business (MSB) at Skyworks. Our application teams are responsible for helping customers to adopt our parts successfully on their projects and leading all communication between internal teams and customers. The successful candidate will manage assigned projects as a single contributor or as part of a team. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent understanding of fundamental RF and phone level design, troubleshooting experience, software skills, and excellent leadership qualities. They should be a driven and committed team player with outstanding communication skills. Responsibilities
- Interact with internal and external customers.
- Evaluate board/radio hardware design.
- Verify and evaluate products in development for compliance to device and system level requirements.
- Provide phone level application design support for compliance to industry standards and customer production robustness.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolution of device production issues.
- Work with customers and internal teams to define device level requirements and perform system tradeoff analysis.
- Collaborate with the quality team to support failure analysis.
- Provide frequent on-site support to achieve successful design-wins.
- Optimize TX/RX performance and understand the trade-offs of TX and RX.
Requirements
- BSEE + 12 years or MSEE with at least 8 years' experience in phone level RF Systems engineering.
- Ability to manage assigned projects and mentor junior level application engineers.
- Experience in a customer-facing role with necessary communication skills to interface effectively.
- Experience in wireless handset application of TX/RX in GSM/C2K/WCDMA/LTE systems; NR experience is a plus.
- RF PCB design, testing, and troubleshooting of RF circuits and phone boards, and RF systems analysis experience.
- Strong theoretical background in fundamental RF and systems design.
- Broad experience in impedance matching on mobile phones and strong understanding of Tx/Rx parameters and FDD/TDD products.
- Strong knowledge of system level debugging using phone tools.
- Hands-on skills for soldering and equipment handling such as Base station emulator (CMW100/500 & UXM), Network Analyzer, Signal generator, Spectrum analyzer, Noise Figure Meter.
- SW skills in C++ and Python for PXIe and ET bench and Auto test bench setting is a plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Tier 1 customer support experience is a plus.
