About the position

The Sr Business Intelligence Analyst (Epic Cogito/Resolute) position is a critical role within the organization, focusing on the analysis of complex business problems using data to provide insights to decision-makers. This role requires candidates to have certification(s) for, or experience with, Epic Cogito/Resolute, along with revenue cycle experience in the healthcare field. The analyst will be responsible for identifying and interpreting trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences, developing forecasts, recommendations, and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge. The position involves working closely with business and clinical units to understand and prioritize data and information requirements, creating specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and available data elements. Additionally, the analyst will optimize the performance of enterprise business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index that add value to the user, and developing business cases to support enterprise-wide business intelligence solutions. In this role, the analyst will gather, prepare, and analyze user requirements to create complex reports and moderately complex to advanced dashboards, utilizing enterprise data systems such as Epic Slicer Dicer, Caboodle & Clarity, SAP/Crystal, and Business Objects. The analyst will also participate in code reviews, perform change management when reporting system modifications are needed, and assist in the development of build, configuration, and release management processes. Furthermore, the analyst will develop end-user education strategies and materials for training, provide detailed ad hoc analysis for hospital departments, and mentor junior team members. The position requires continual professional development, maintenance of Epic certifications, and effective communication skills to translate customer requirements into BI solutions. Project management is a key aspect of this role, requiring timely completion of assigned tasks, accurate communication of status, and the ability to balance multiple concurrent project assignments. The analyst will analyze Business Intelligence requests to align with existing tools and processes, develop new processes, and investigate new tools as appropriate. Troubleshooting skills will be essential for supporting Business Intelligence solutions and assisting others in resolving escalated issues. The analyst will also coordinate communication between internal and external parties on assigned tasks and related issues, ensuring accountability for commitments to projects.

Responsibilities

• Gather, prepare and analyze user requirements to create complex reports and moderately complex to advanced dashboards.
• Participate in code reviews, including reviewing code of others.
• Perform change management when reporting system modifications are needed.
• Follow and assist in the development of build, configuration and release management processes.
• Utilize and contribute to the CCHMC information glossary to refer to governed definitions when analyzing and creating reports.
• Develop end-user education strategies and develop or oversee the development of end-user materials for training, adoption, and education.
• Provide detailed ad hoc analysis for hospital departments and divisions.
• Develop mastery of specific hospital data domains and provide consultation to customers and other technical staff.
• Mentor junior members of the team related to specific technical skills as well as troubleshooting skills, departmental processes, and general professionalism.
• Maintain Epic certifications and obtain additional certifications in other modules as appropriate.
• Plan and execute testing plans for BI solutions.
• Timely completion of assigned tasks and accurate communication of status.
• Effectively balance multiple concurrent project assignments and develop task priorities and timelines.
• Identify recurrent technical support issues and develop solutions.
• Serve as project manager for complex projects and perform other duties as assigned.
• Analyze Business Intelligence requests to align with existing tools and processes, as well as develop new processes and investigate new tools as appropriate.
• Use troubleshooting skills to effectively support Business Intelligence solutions and assist others in solving escalated issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Epic Resolute certification (preferred).
• 5-7 years of experience in SQL querying, report writing, and dashboard development in PowerBI (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience with Epic Cogito reporting tools (preferred).
• 3+ years of Revenue Cycle Management or Decision Support experience (preferred).
• Experience with Quality Improvement and Lean concepts (preferred).
• MBA or solid understanding of Accounting and Finance concepts (preferred).
• Change Management skills.
• Proficiency in Python.
