The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst plays a crucial role in this mission by providing data-driven insights and analytical support to solve strategic and operational problems. This position is not just about data; it involves working directly with business users to understand their needs and translating those into actionable recommendations that will influence business decisions. The analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining a Power BI report repository, ensuring data accuracy and validity, and providing end-user training to facilitate adoption of these tools. The role requires a deep understanding of business processes and the ability to partner with various teams, including Commercial, Finance, and Operations, to identify strategic objectives. The analyst will create unique operational reports and dashboards that track execution success and develop scalable, automated dashboards to benchmark progress against key performance goals. This involves creating composite Power BI data models from multiple data sources, such as SQL Server, CRM Dynamics, Salesforce, and Excel, while maintaining row-level security and understanding application security layer models in Power BI. In addition to technical skills, the analyst must be able to map business processes to data structures, maintain report documentation, and understand data elements in the data warehouse to support user needs ranging from research to ad hoc queries. The role also includes analyzing existing processes and database models to recommend potential improvements, supporting business functions with ad hoc requests, and managing Power dataset deployment. The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst is expected to uphold Bioventus' Code of Compliance and Ethics, ensuring that all business is conducted in a compliant manner. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit and review reporting and analytic requirements from business and translate into technical designs for enterprise business intelligence implementation.
  • Partner with Commercial, Finance and Operations business teams to understand processes, identify strategic objectives and create unique operational reports and dashboards that track execution success.
  • Develop scalable, automated dashboards to provide benchmarking and progress against key performance goals and initiatives; understand root causes of what impacts attainment of those objectives.
  • Create composite Power BI data models with multiple data sources like SQL Server, CRM Dynamics, Salesforce, Excel.
  • Maintain row-level security on data along with an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.
  • Map business processes to data structures and maintain and publish report documentation and Data Dictionary.
  • Understand data elements in the data warehouse at a very detailed level to support any form of user needs from research to ad hoc queries to managing large information projects.
  • Define and document the details behind how metrics are calculated, and ensure that the source data matches the needs of the business.
  • Analyze existing/new processes and database models to make recommendations on potential process improvements.
  • Support business functions daily for ad hoc requests (SQL queries, report analysis, etc.).
  • Manage Power dataset deployment and document release notes.
  • Assist with creating and delivering end user training and documentation.
  • Hold oneself and others accountable to conduct business in a manner compliant with Bioventus' Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies and procedures and internal controls applicable to their role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a BI role developing complex automated Business Intelligence solutions using software such as Power BI or other similar reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL to query large and complex data sets, test query results, and tune query performance required.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Minimum two years of Sales and financial reporting experience with a CPA, MBA, or PMP.
