About The Position

The Senior Public Cloud Architect at PayPal will be responsible for designing and developing the Public Cloud Platform and Strategy, focusing on creating efficient Public Cloud Solutions across all Business Units. This role involves working with advanced cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, and Azure, with a strong emphasis on cloud security technologies. The architect will influence key decisions regarding Public Cloud Engineering efforts and ensure a seamless migration of workloads into the Public Cloud for internal engineering teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect in the Public Cloud domain.
• 10+ years of software development experience with a focus on cloud security.
• Hands-on experience with GoLang and Python is required.
• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP.
• Experience with service mesh tools such as Istio, Linkerd, or Consul in large-scale deployments.
• Working knowledge of Public Cloud technologies and tools for building solutions in GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Ability to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions.

Nice To Haves

• A BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect appropriate Public Cloud solutions based on use cases.
• Propose and implement solutions to optimize PayPal's Public Cloud environment.
• Ensure the Public Cloud environment is configured with necessary security controls.
• Stay updated on the latest cloud computing technologies and trends.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and product managers across various locations.
• Engage in hands-on work for Public Cloud customer enablement and integration with OnPrem systems.
• Learn and test new cloud technologies to improve PayPal's solutions.
• Drive software solutions from design through to release phase.
• Perform high-quality software analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance.
