About the position

The Sr. Cloud Technical Account Manager (TAM) at AWS is responsible for providing strategic technical guidance and advocacy to enterprise customers, ensuring they derive maximum value from AWS services. This role involves collaborating with various teams to resolve customer issues, proactively managing customer environments, and driving the adoption of AWS technologies. The TAM acts as the primary technical advisor, engaging with senior leadership to discuss incidents, support strategies, and risk management, while also fostering strong relationships with customers to understand their operational needs and challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal technical advisor and advocate for AWS customers.
  • Work proactively to craft and execute strategies for customer adoption of AWS services.
  • Collaborate with engineers and service teams to resolve customer support issues.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices.
  • Maintain operational health of customers' AWS environments through ongoing support and advice.
  • Engage with senior leadership to discuss incidents, trade-offs, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, and 5+ years of equivalent work experience or 7+ years of related work experience.
  • 5+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in Information Technology operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars and their application to customer architecture.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Experience applying technical or operational expertise to solve complex challenges.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, especially in presenting to executive audiences.
  • Experience building resilient, secure, cost-effective, and performant systems.
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment.
  • Experience with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
  • Experience mentoring others.
