About the position

Slickdeals is seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will leverage their expertise in quantitative analysis to gain deep insights into user behavior on the Slickdeals platform, identifying opportunities for product enhancement and guiding the product roadmap. This role involves collaborating with product teams to define key metrics, develop foundational datasets, and create dashboards to monitor product health and track progress. Through strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Sr. Data Scientist will ensure that data-driven insights contribute to impactful changes in the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Apply quantitative expertise to dive into user behavior and understand how users interact with Slickdeals platform, identifying opportunities for product improvement and helping shape the product roadmap and strategy.
  • Work with the embedded product team to determine the north star and operational metrics, build foundational datasets, and create dashboards that monitor product health, track progress, and support key decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities in ambiguous areas, define analytics problems, and deepen the team's understanding of user behavior on the platform, ensuring valuable insights are captured.
  • Lead the design of experiments, establish the metrics framework to assess the success of new features, and drive meaningful insights and learnings through test results.
  • Influence the product roadmap by effectively communicating findings across the company, ensuring that data-driven insights lead to impactful product and business changes.

Requirements

  • A degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline (advanced degrees preferred).
  • 5+ years of working experience in a Data Scientist, Analytics, or equivalent role.
  • Expertise in SQL - able to write structured and efficient queries with large data sets.
  • Experience in online experimentation and statistical analysis, and know how to use statistical inference and experimentation to drive actionable recommendations.
  • Experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Sigma, PowerBI, etc.
  • Experience in Python, especially with data science and visualization libraries.

  • Self-starter, thrives in ambiguity and has an investigator mindset of wanting to get to the bottom of problems.
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional partners.
