The Sr. Database Administrator at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. will work with developers and domain experts to establish a technical vision and evaluate trade-offs between usability and performance. This role involves utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques to deliver unique and tailored solutions to meet our customers' specific needs. The administrator will act as a key point of contact between the business functions and IT, working with users across all organizational levels to analyze and convert business requirements into database specifications. The position requires critically assessing information from various sources, resolving conflicts, and differentiating between user requests and actual needs. The administrator will translate high-level information into detailed requirements and summarize detailed information effectively. Communication and collaboration with users to analyze their information needs and functional requirements is essential. The role also includes acting as a liaison between business, technology, and support teams to ensure clear and efficient communication, participating in the Service Desk function to address and resolve user-related support calls, developing and implementing test plans, and providing communication and training to end users for new functionalities. Additionally, the administrator will create new reports and dashboards to capture metrics for operational and business users and work directly with Amazon Web Services architects to replicate and resolve customer issues.
