About the position

Compeer Financial is seeking a Senior Digital Compliance Officer to ensure that the organization operates within the material regulatory and contractual compliance framework while adhering to its risk tolerance. This role is pivotal as it serves as the digital regulatory compliance subject matter expert, providing guidance and training to team members on federal and state laws and regulations related to digital compliance. The Senior Digital Compliance Officer will also be responsible for developing and executing testing and monitoring protocols for the organization's online lending platform and programs. In this position, the officer will act as the primary compliance resource for the AgTech and Digital Delivery teams, addressing legal and compliance-related inquiries and delivering practical solutions to various issues. The role involves advising on new digital initiatives and assessing how changes in regulations may impact existing policies, procedures, and documentation. Keeping abreast of applicable federal and state regulatory laws and standards in the digital space is crucial, as is monitoring advancements to ensure the organization remains compliant. The Senior Digital Compliance Officer will conduct comprehensive risk assessments of digital platforms and programs to identify compliance risks. This includes executing a testing and monitoring program for internal digital platforms and conducting periodic compliance audits on third-party AgTech partners. The officer will identify and validate issues during testing to evaluate the effectiveness of controls in compliance with the organization's policies and applicable regulatory requirements, discussing potential corrective actions with the business and providing recommendations for action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance resource to the AgTech and Digital Delivery teams regarding legal and compliance-related questions.
  • Provide advice on new digital initiatives and assess how changes in regulations may affect policies, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state regulatory laws and standards in the digital space and monitor advancements to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of digital platforms and programs to identify compliance risks.
  • Execute a testing and monitoring program for internal digital platforms and programs, and conduct periodic compliance audits on third-party AgTech partners.
  • Identify and validate issues during testing to conclude on the effectiveness of controls to comply with the organization's policies or applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Discuss potential corrective actions with the business and provide recommendations for action plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, agribusiness or other related degree; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of related experience in compliance, auditing, or legal fields, preferably in FinTech or digital/online lending.
  • Compliance Certificate (ABA's Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and online lending.
  • Ability to apply laws and regulations to the digital space.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
