About the position

The Senior Electrician at Bowling Green State University is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing various electrical equipment and infrastructure under the supervision of the MEP Superintendent. This role involves ensuring the reliability of electrical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The position also includes leading and training other workers, responding to emergencies, and supporting campus events outside of regular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Installs or repairs a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, and circuit breakers.
  • Maintains medium and low electrical power distribution networks by repairing faulty components.
  • Implements preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems including fire alarms and sprinklers.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and sketches to estimate materials and time for projects.
  • May supervise and train semi-skilled workers and assist in work assignments.
  • Troubleshoots electrical systems and recommends actions based on evaluations.
  • Assists in procuring parts and services for maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies and works during inclement weather.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience as a journeyman level Electrician.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a State of Ohio Fire Alarm Licensure at time of hire or within the first 90 days.
  • Successful completion of a trades certification or apprenticeship program as a journeyman Electrician.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable under the University's insurance.
