About the position

The Design Engineer position at Smurfit Westrock focuses on providing comprehensive engineering solutions for the design and manufacturing of Permanent Point of Purchase Displays. This role involves collaborating with project management, estimating, and manufacturing teams to ensure effective pricing and production processes. The Design Engineer will utilize engineering principles to develop and modify display designs, maintain engineering documentation, and provide technical support throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering solutions for the design, development, or modification of permanent displays.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, bill of materials, and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical support for all items in the production process.
• Specify vendors and maintain ordering information for components.
• Maintain and update work schedules in real time.
• Establish communication between the company and vendors.
• Perform reverse engineering on components to competitively price and manufacture displays.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a 2-year Associates Degree; a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or Engineering is preferred.
• Strong understanding of design and engineering principles and the manufacturing process.
• Proficiency in computer-based design programs and WRMD proprietary software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and good oral and written communication skills.

• Experience in packaging design or related fields.
• Familiarity with safety rules and operating procedures in a manufacturing environment.
