About The Position

The Sr. Engineer position at Iteris involves leading and supporting various transportation planning and engineering projects aimed at improving community mobility. The role requires collaboration with state, regional, and local agencies, focusing on traffic engineering, signal operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The successful candidate will work on-site in Santa Ana or Los Angeles, engaging in project management, client relations, and staff mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification or International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification desired.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in transportation engineering or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing project and/or program for public agencies, staff management, and mentoring.
  • Familiar with tools such as Synchro, Sim Traffic, VISSIM, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design, implementation, and integration projects.
  • Collaborate with clients to deliver projects to the clients' satisfaction within business objectives.
  • Coordinate daily with project teams, client staff, and consultants on assigned projects.
  • Identify and ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues on the client's signal network.
  • Conduct field reviews and inspections of traffic, assessing and optimizing performance to achieve operational excellence.
  • Lead and participate in design review, including the preparation, analysis, and validation of plans, site investigations, cost estimates, specifications, and reports.
  • Ensure the effective design, improvement, and repair of traffic control systems and devices in alignment with project goals and standards.
  • Liaise with local and regional business development efforts.
  • Cultivate strategic thinking to grow business and increase return client rates.
  • Periodically participate in coordination meetings and consult with other staff.
  • Support staff management and provide mentorship and training for engineering and planning staff.
  • Define client needs and develop a plan and proposal for delivery of the project.
  • Local travel will be required for project-related tasks and client meetings.
