About the position
Exelon is leading the energy transformation, and we are looking for problem solvers, innovators, community builders, and change makers to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and lead teams in various engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, and budgets related to the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas, and telecommunication facilities/systems. This role involves providing consultation and recommendations to the company and other business units or customers based on studies of systems, processes, equipment, vehicles, or facilities. The position may require extended hours during storms or energy delivery emergencies and is hybrid, requiring in-office presence at least three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
- Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects associated with critical or analytical engineering projects.
- Evaluates, develops, implements, and leads projects with significant financial and operational impact.
- Plans, writes, and performs tasks for documentation deliverables and projects.
- Participates in department planning, providing budget recommendations and monitoring performance.
- Acts independently and may lead multi-discipline teams, providing oversight of contractors.
- Serves as an expert in a specialized area and provides expert opinions as required.
- Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness.
- Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and guidance to others.
- Participates in technical and industry societies to enhance knowledge of new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes, methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise.
- 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise.
- Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Minimum of three related career experiences or a Professional Engineer's License, advanced technical degree, MBA, or Project Management Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience managing, developing, or updating facilities ratings for transmission or distribution assets.
- Experience in distribution capacity planning for new business load and DER interconnections.
- Experience in substation engineering for existing or new substations.
- Experience in transmission engineering for existing or new underground or aerial transmission lines.
- Experience with outage coordination and monitoring system conditions.

- Annual salary range: USD $100,800.00/Yr. - USD $151,200.00/Yr.
