About the position

McDonald's is committed to driving positive change through our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. We are looking for a Senior Manager of Finance within the Global Finance Business Advisory Services team who will play a pivotal role in further integrating sustainability and ESG considerations into our financial decision-making and management processes. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify, quantify, and manage sustainability and ESG-related financial risks and opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a strong performer and self-starter, with experience interacting across multiple disciplines. This candidate will also have comfort with ambiguity, agile ways of working, and openness to evolving their own role and responsibilities as we continue to ensure our ESG Finance team is fit for purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage robust financial frameworks to assess the financial implications of sustainability strategies and ESG factors, including climate change, social impact, and governance risks.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders across the organization to understand their sustainability and ESG priorities and integrate them into financial planning, modeling, and decision-making.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and support as a thought partner and problem solver to corporate functions on sustainability and ESG-related investments, Virtual Power Purchase Agreements, capital allocation, and cost management.
  • Facilitate the development of sustainability and ESG-aligned business strategies and operational plans.
  • Strategically advise and partner on sustainability and ESG related projects, such as clean energy, commitment assessments, and business case creation.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and deliverables.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses for senior leadership.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate sustainability and ESG-related financial risks, such as climate change physical and transition risks, reputational risks, and regulatory risks.
  • Develop and implement effective risk management processes and controls to ensure compliance with ESG regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting. Experience in sustainable finance a plus.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability practices and ESG principles, frameworks, and regulations and the specific ESG challenges and opportunities within the restaurant industry.
  • Understanding of climate-related risks and opportunities, and the ability to assess their financial implications.
  • Proven track record in financial analysis, modeling, and reporting.
  • Ability to build insightful financial models coupled with the ability to communicate results to non-finance professionals.
  • Ability to optimally scrutinize and challenge project assumptions; interpret strategies and priorities through a financial lens.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
