About the position

At TC Transcontinental, we've got it made, and that's because of the expertise of our team. We are currently looking for a Sr. Financial Operations Accountant to be a key resource for financial accuracy at the TC Transcontinental facility in Griffin, GA. The primary role of the Sr. FinOps Accountant is to perform cost accounting duties of a complex nature requiring advanced professional experience and knowledge in cost accounting principles and practices. Responsible for review and analysis of inventory, fixed assets and other operational analysis as it pertains to inventory and variances affecting the balance sheet and P&L. Position works cross functionally with the sales, production, purchasing, customer service and accounting teams to provide needed information. This position reports to the FinOps Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate product costs.
  • Audit item costs, costing programs, and systems for accuracy.
  • Ensure rates are appropriate and updated with changes in the business.
  • Coordinate proper cost absorption in inventory valuation.
  • Collaborate with the plant to consistently and accurately update packaging labor and runtime information in the database.
  • Prepare routine and special cost and inventory reports, providing data analysis to support management decisions.
  • Ensure accuracy of all inventory and fixed asset values in the accounting system.
  • Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure adherence to basic accounting inventory procedures and company policies.
  • Review inventory levels daily/weekly and take actions to reconcile or resolve issues.
  • Support the annual cycle count inventory process, resolving discrepancies with the warehouse team.
  • Perform routine accounting tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, manual invoicing, and month-end closing activities.
  • Assist the Sales Team and Pricing Analyst with proposals for new products and business opportunities.
  • Develop and update procedure instructions and training materials for current accounting functions.
  • Cross-train with other accounting positions to serve as backup, as needed.
  • Handle related projects and accounting duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in costing within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Broad knowledge of cost control systems and related cost accounting functions.
  • Ability to prepare strategic recommendations for management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve inconsistencies independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (PRMS preferred).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
